DynamicShift was started Fall 2009 as Nonpartisan Productive Dialogue.

The grassroots initiative employs positive public kindling and productive discourse to illuminate civility.  It encourages and mediates innovative dialogues that transcend ideologies, engage shared values and create mutually-productive change by highlighting interconnections among different community sectors.

DynamicShift efforts influenced several civility discussions, among them: WeThePeople, the national cross-partisan movement started in 2010 by Center for Democracy and Citizenship at Augsburg College, The White House Office of Public EngagementAmerican Democracy Project, American Commonwealth Partnership and bi-partisan leaders.

DynamicShift is based in Burnsville, Minnesota, a city with a history of nonpartisan engagement. DynamicShift colleagues include bi-partisan elected officials as well as faith, arts, academic, business and citizen leaders from the suburban/urban corridors between the Twin Cities and Burnsville area.

DynamicShift’s inception was a reaction to the polarizing rhetoric of local leaders.Their conduct undermined the Burnsville Performing Arts Center, a $22 million public venue located in a mixed-income, multi-use development area. As a longtime citizen of Burnsville DynamicShift founder Andrea Morisette Grazzini knew the dissenting views did not represent the cooperative ethic of most citizens.

Numerous citizens and leaders agreed. It expanded to include cross-sector efforts around shared problems and common ground solutions. Following are co-leaders and advisers of DynamicShift:
